1. The Sonoran Desert
The Sonoran Desert, which lies near Phoenix, is home to one-third of the plants at the Desert Botanical Garden. There are 50,000 plants in the collection. It includes giant cactus and agave collections. Desert plants from Australia, South America, and California are exhibited, while more temperate climate plants are kept in shade houses. Each country display includes an overview of the country’s traditional instruments, noteworthy artists, appropriate apparel and fashion items, and a film featuring music from selected local musicians.
